After receiving some very bad news this morning, we had phone calls to make and by the time that was sorted I had missed the tides for Levington :( With today being the only day with some wind, up to now June has been really bad with no wind and none coming, too hot to walk or bike too! I was keen to at least try and get on the water so my only option today was The Manor end at Felixstowe so after dinner I hitched up and headed down bumping into Swainy who said it was too offshore for him. I managed to park at the end of the prom and Swainy came back to check it out again and things actually looked very promising despite the tide still being fairy high having only recently turned, so wind with tide, not ideal but the wind now maybe WSW looked good, possibly 20 knots, I nearly rigged 6.5! Swainy went home to think about it but I set up my foil and, in the end, went for my 7m. By the time I set off the wind had gone a bit more off but I found the wind line about a quarter of a mile out and flew for two miles downwind thinking I might have rigged too big! Sadly, that was the best of it really, I did have a few more flying runs but the wind went light so I had to beat close to the beach to stay out of the stronger currant to get back avoiding large areas of weed! I got back to the launch beach with no problems then a gust came through so I had another couple of runs before calling it a day. Still can’t complain too made, still fairy fit, out in my shortie in the warm sunshine all by myself:) Highlight of the day was spotting a seal, the low point finding yet another hole in my poor old Tushingham Lightning 7m, my all time favourite sail, now definitely on its last legs and I will have to keep my eye open for another one!
